Double the Powder

Inspired by Captain Hook's command in Disney's Peter Pan, this fiery piece explores the power and aggressiveness of the string orchestra. Using notes from the E dorian scale, this piece highlights the dotted half note and it's relationship to the dotted quarter note. In fact, the recap of the piece is written with the same notes but twice as fast, an easy way to introduce students to diminution. A great and exciting piece for 1st year students!
